One of the biggest stories surrounding WWE heading into WrestleMania 34 is the health status of WWE Champion AJ Styles.
WWE put on a storyline at a house show in which he suffered a knee injury after an attack from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. It turns out that Styles actually suffered an injury beforehand and the storyline was put in place to sideline "The Phenomenal One" for a bit before Mania.
This past week on SmackDown Live, Styles avoided any physical altercations as he purposely took a long time to go into the ring and help Shinsuke Nakamura - who was being attacked by Rusev and Aiden English.
While the overall belief is that Styles' injury may not be that serious, as he was recently added back to house show schedules, and he'll be able to continue on with his match against Nakamura in New Orleans.
Fans are really hoping that Styles' injury isn't as serious as we all fear, as it would put one of the WWE Universe's top "dream matches" in jeopardy. WWE COO Triple H was recently asked about Styles injury in an interview.
"The Game" was involved in an international media call to promote NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, the day before WrestleMania. He was asked about Styles' status for WrestleMania and whether or not there is a backup plan in place for him.
Triple H admitted that Styles would be incredibly difficult to replace, but said that there is always a plan B and C in cases such as these (quotes via SEScoops):
“You always have to have a Plan B, [and] just in case you have a Plan C,” Triple H said.
“AJ is an incredible performer. Replacing AJ Styles would be very difficult. [He’s] not necessarily a replaceable talent, but we would do our best.
“AJ is working diligently on rehabbing his injuries and getting himself in tip-top shape for WrestleMania,” Triple H said.
“We are trying to help him with that process of getting the best care and the best rehab and everything else possible. We’re hoping for the best.
“Right now he says he’s feeling a lot better and will be ready to go.
"Obviously we’ll get him doctors to make sure that he is ready to go and get a medical clearance, if that’s possible. He’s working very hard at it, so we’re hoping for the best.”
What are your thoughts on Triple H saying that there is a plan B and C in place in case Styles can not compete at WrestleMania 34? Who do you think would be a good option to fill in for Styles if he's unable to go? And who are you pulling for in the "dream match?"
