Ronda Rousey vs. Cris Cyborg, Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre and even Fedor Emelianenko vs. Randy Couture are three of the many super fights we have never got to witness in the UFC.

Nowadays, rankings don’t seem to matter as much as the best want to take on the best in the biggest money fights possible. That’s why it comes as no surprise that the UFC capitalised on another super fight where Daniel Cormier will be challenging heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic after they both managed to easily get past Volkan Oezdemir and Francis Ngannou with relative ease.

SUPER FIGHT

However, another super fight many were quietly hoping would come to fruition during International Fight Week was between Demetrious Johnson and T.J. Dillashaw.

BAD NEWS

Despite the positive signs being there, UFC president Dana White has sadly poured cold water of a super fight featuring Johnson and Dillashaw. White has claimed that Johnson is still out with an injury after having shoulder surgery. So now, the organisation is working hard to find a new opponent for Dillashaw following his emphatic victory over rival Cody Garbrandt in November.

When speaking to the L.A. Times, White stated that: “It was never made. Plus, D.J. is hurt and out for a while.”

With Johnson now firmly out of the picture for a while, even though he was ready to fight Dillashaw in the summer, the focus now turns to the bantamweight champion and who he could fight next. Obviously, a rematch with Garbrandt is going to be one of the more popular choices right now.

Instead, the UFC can now turn their full focus to another super fight which looks to be fading away slowly, as Cris Cyborg is adamant that Amanda Nunes must meet the deadline if she wants to get the fight she called out for.
