There can be no doubting that England supporters always travel well.Thousands will travel to Russia for the World Cup despite the safety concerns; no matter the location, the fans will always follow the Three Lions. The latest trip is to Amsterdam, where Gareth Southgate’s side take on the Netherlands in a friendly. There has been trouble even before the weekend, though; twenty-five England supporters have been detained by police after throwing beer bottles at officers.Riot police were ordered to restore calm to the situation, which doesn’t reflect well on England fans. The incident will likely lead to a reminder from the FA for the thousands who travel to avoid any trouble, particularly with a potentially hostile World Cup in Russia just a few months away.Whether they listen, however, is another matter.

Footage of England fans' awful behaviour in Amsterdam

Footage of a group of England supporters in a really negative light is doing the rounds on social media right now.

It shows the supporters throwing their drinks over a boat filled with people as it passes beneath them.

Football fans have understandably criticised the England supporters in the clip for their shameful actions.

There simply was no need it.

British boxer Tony Bellew is among those to slam those in the video.

“Home after a long hard week! Turn on the tv to see a gang of idiots on a bridge in Amsterdam throwing ale on a gang of innocent people on a boat!,” Bellew wrote on Twitter

“Proper tough guys! Stupid gang of t*** ya’s are! Why can’t ya’s just go somewhere and enjoy the football? #Fools”.

It’s hard to disagree. Quite why the supporters can’t enjoy themselves without making news for the wrong reasons is a mystery.

You feel for those who stay out of harms but may end up being tarnished with the same brush as the rebellious ones.

If this is how a section of fans behave for one friendly against the Netherlands, a few weeks in Russia really doesn’t bode very well.
