After years of heartache and hope, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion-turned SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan has been cleared for an in-ring return by the company.

Bryan had suffered 20 concussions over his professional wrestling career in addition to having a lesion on his brain that caused him to have two seizures.

He retired in February of 2016 after learning that brain activity had slowed down for him after the injuries.

It was later told to Bryan by doctors that his decision to retire was premature and he was cleared by several specialists across the country to return to action.

After WWE's Medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon told Bryan to go get evaluated by several neurologists, Bryan passed each of those specialists' tests to return.

WWE followed suit and cleared him for an in-ring return this past Monday. He is now expected to make his highly-anticipated return at WrestleMania 34 with a Tag Team match in which he'll parter with Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Recently former WWE Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian discussed Bryan getting cleared again on their podcast, E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness. Edge was forced to end his wrestling career due to an injury that could potentially paralyze him.

Christian decided to hang up the boots after some concussion-related injuries as well. Following Bryan getting cleared, many fans reached out to Edge on the possibility of one more match.

The belief was that since Bryan could get cleared to compete again, so could Edge. Edge said that his injury is completely different and that he'll never get cleared, however, he appreciates that fans would like to see him hit the ring one last time (quotes via IWNerd):

“I greatly appreciate that people would like to see me have one more match or come back or ‘Daniel Bryan got cleared so why can’t you?’

"I will never be cleared. Mine is a completely different injury. He had neck issues, but it wasn’t neck issues that retired him initially, it was the concussion issues.

“I never had concussion issues. What I have is cervical spinal stenosis, look it up. I have stupid neck, just look it up. You can look up ‘stupid neck’ and they’ll probably be a picture of my neck.

"Just do me a favor and look it up and you will realize that the WWE will never medically clear me to compete again. And I appreciate it, but that’s all there is to that.”

What are your thoughts on Edge saying that he'll never get cleared for a return by WWE? Do you think that there's a chance WWE could allow Edge to do one last match? And if so, who would you like to see him work against? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
