Cristiano Ronaldo has been in relentless goalscoring form of late.In his previous eight games, the 33-year-old has netted a ridiculous 17 goals for Real Madrid. His goalscoring form during the first half of the season was a real concern but the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has proved over the past few weeks that he is still a force of nature and one of the world’s top two players alongside Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.Ronaldo was back in action this evening for Portugal, making his 148th appearance for his country against Egypt at the Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich. And as you might expect, he looked full of confidence against the African nation.Midway through the first half, Ronaldo briefly reverted back into the 2008 version of Cristiano Ronaldo by producing some eye-catching skills following a neat piece of control on the touchline.Ronaldo, who was once arguably the world’s most skilful footballer a decade ago but rarely attempts skills in matches these days, bamboozled the Egyptian right-back with his dazzlingly quick feet before producing a backheel for Raphaël Guerreiro.

It feels like we’ve been transported back in time 10 years - and it’s wonderful.

It’s a shame that we don’t see Ronaldo attempt more skills during matches these days because he’s clearly more than capable.

The former Manchester United star is all about scoring goals now - which is hardly a bad thing - but Ronaldo was arguably at his most thrilling when he used to embarrass defenders for fun.

Ronaldo wins it for Portugal

Ronaldo then scored two goals in injury time to win the match for Portugal.

The reigning European champions went a goal down after Mohamed Salah - who else? - scored with a well-placed strike in the second half.

But Ronaldo - again, who else? - then popped up with a stoppage-time equaliser and then, incredibly, the winner.
