The Golden State Warriors could be dealt with a major blow to their hopes of retaining the NBA Championship later today depending on the results of Steph Curry's MRI scan on his knee which he injured in his first game back from an ankle injury on Friday. The Warriors managed to defeat the Atlanta Hawks 106-94 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland last night, but from the third quarter onwards, most of the attention during and after the game was directed towards Curry's injury. The Golden State point guard left the game during the third quarter after a collision with JaVale McGee. McGee went up to block a shot from the Hawks, but when he came back down he landed on Curry's left leg, which caused him to limp around the court before exiting the game. This was his first game back since missing six contests because of a right ankle injury, but now it looks like he could be spending some more time on the sidelines. The Warriors announced after the game that he had suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee and would undergo an MRI on Saturday.Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said after the game, via ESPN: "We'll see what the MRI says tomorrow. There's not a lot we can do or predict. Kind of a strange, cruel twist of fate, you know. He rehabs his ankle for the last couple of weeks, gets that strong, and then the knee goes. So we'll see what happens. Keep our fingers crossed."

Curry's teammate, Kevin Durant, believes that Steph will work as hard as he can once more to get back on the court as soon as possible no matter the severity of the injury that the MRI will reveal later today.

He said: "Obviously, you don't know. Once you get the diagnosis and you figure out the timetable and what could happen. ... We don't know what's going on. You just want to get some information, but it's all good, man. Steph is going to work his tail off to get back no matter what it is, and we're all going to support him and we're going to be there for him. We're going to hold this s--- down."

McGee expressed his frustration on Twitter after the game as well.

Overall, the Warriors will be hoping that Curry is able to return to the court as soon as possible. For the time being, it looks like he will be missing the rest of the regular season. Golden State fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that their star point guard can come back in time for the playoffs.
