LeBron James is the heart and soul of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and that statement couldn't be truer this season due to his leadership during a troubling midseason and leadership most recently with Tyronn Lue away from the bench at the moment due to recent health problems.

The four-time MVP winner once again led the scoring for the Cavaliers on Friday night during their win against the Phoenix Suns at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, helping the franchise stay in touching distance of the Boston Celtics who sit in second in the Eastern Conference.

James finished the night with 27 points, six rebounds, nine assists, a steal, a block, and he was 11-of-19 from the field. He has now scored at least 10 points in 863 straight games, and he's very close to breaking the all-time record held in this category, which is owned by Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

According to ESPN, the Cavaliers star is now just three games away from tying Jordan's NBA record for the most consecutive games with at least 10 points. He's on course to tie the mark on Wednesday in Charlotte against the Hornets, potentially with Hornets owner himself in attendance.

Ever since James became a star in the NBA, he has always been compared to Jordan. Fans have strong supportive arguments to suggest that either one of them is the greatest player to have ever played in the NBA.

However, if the Cavaliers star is able to surpass the Bulls icon in the most consecutive games with at least 10 points category, many NBA fans will say that the argument of 'Who is the greatest NBA player of all time?' has sung in LeBron's favour.

Of course, the main focus for James will be keeping the Cavaliers on the right path towards challenging the Celtics for second place in the Eastern Conference, as well as keep their winning streak alive so that they enter the playoffs in good form, rather than this NBA record.

If he manages to match or beat the record held by Jordan, then that's just a bonus.

James and the Cavaliers play next on Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets.
