Legends from both Liverpool and Bayern Munich gave fans inside Anfield a fine afternoon of entertainment on Saturday afternoon in an enjoyable ten-goal thriller.Dirk Kuyt, Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler had Liverpool 3-0 up within 17 minutes before Bayern launched a stunning comeback to lead 4-3, with the game ending 5-5.Xabi Alonso, who enjoyed successful spells at both clubs during his glittering career, played for both Liverpool and Bayern's legends over the course of the draw. The Spaniard actually gifted the Bavarians the lead 33 minutes in when his uncharacteristically poor pass across Liverpool's penalty area was headed in by Alexander Zickler. However, in the second half, Alonso reminded the Anfield faithful of what he's truly capable of by rolling the back the years and scoring a lovely free-kick.

Alonso returns to Anfield

Alonso played 210 times for Liverpool across five years and won four trophies, including the Champions League, before joining Real Madrid in 2009.

He was reunited with the likes of Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard on Saturday, but his best moment of the legends match came when he was wearing a Bayern shirt.

Alonso scores classy free-kick

As you can see below, the 36-year-old legend put the German outfit 5-4 up in the 73rd-minute with a brilliantly struck free-kick from just outside the penalty box.

Even though the goalkeeper had his left-hand side covered, the sheer pace and accuracy of Alonso's strike meant the ball whistled into the back of the net.

The World Cup winning midfielder retired at Bayern in 2017, but he's proved that you don't lose that touch of class overnight, and fans on Twitter certainly enjoyed his goal.

This was only a legends match, but we could see another clash between Bayern and Liverpool should they get past Sevilla and Manchester City respectively in the Champions League.
