Barnsley have completed their third summer signing with the capture of Serbian midfielder Goran Lovre from FC Groningen.

The Tykes have fended off competition from both the Premier League and Championship for the services of Lovre, an attacking midfielder who spent eight years at Belgian side Anderlecht, where he graduated from the youth set up.

Barnsley manager Mark Robins said: "I'm very pleased to have signed Goran Lovre. He will be a great addition to the squad and will give us something extra going forward and will also get us goals."

He added: "Beating off the interest from other clubs in the Premier League and Championship shows that we're ambitious. He's bought into our plans and wants to be part of that at Oakwell."

Lovre has spent the last four seasons at FC Groningen, who this season finished eighth in the Dutch Eredivisie.
