Bradford boss Peter Taylor has spoken of his delight after securing the services of Tommy Doherty.

The 31-year-old, who played under Taylor at Wycombe, will officially join the club on July 1 after signing a two-year contract at Valley Parade.

Taylor told the Telegraph & Argus: "I promised the two chairmen right then that I would have Tommy here next season. I was always very confident of getting him."

He added: "I`ve got on very well with him as a person as well as a footballer. We understand each other and he`s a tremendous player.

"I`m really pleased that he wants to come and again he`s one who sees the potential here. He could easily have gone to the division higher."

"He is as good a passer as anyone at this level, possibly the level above and even the next one after that. He`s a really top footballer. That`s why I was pushing for the club to get a good pitch. The players that are already here will enjoy working with Tom."
