Although Samoa Joe’s injury is the likely reason why Elias was involved in some huge matches in recent months, he did a fantastic job of showing why he’s a valuable asset to the WWE.

Despite being a heel, the fans are totally on board with his gimmick and it’s why he’s been fortunate enough to work alongside the likes of Braun Strowman and John Cena. He even managed to get into the Elimination Chamber match to determine the number one contender to Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34.

WALK WITH ELIAS

However, many fans have found it strange that despite the push he has had, he hasn’t been confirmed for a match at WrestleMania 34, which takes place in just under two weeks at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

During an interview with Sportskeeda earlier this month, The Drifter revealed that the plan was for him to perform in front of the audience in what would be his biggest performance to date.

At the time, he said: “Yes, it would be an injustice if Elias was at WrestleMania and not performing in front of millions of people around the world, nearly 70,000 in attendance, it would be an absolute injustice.

“I will be performing, it will be an amazing, memorable performance, unlike anything you’ve seen Elias do in the past.”

Since then, it had been speculated that his performance would be a segment featuring none other than The Rock. Sadly for fans, though, that plan will no longer go ahead.

Elias challenged The Great One to a singing contest in a different interview, and it’s been claimed that this interview was done to set up a WrestleMania moment between the former NXT star and The Rock in New Orleans.

CANCELLED

The Inquisitr has shared the news which was broken by Dirty Sheets, who revealed that Vince McMahon himself has cancelled this segment because the WWE was unable to lock in The Rock for an appearance.

This means it looks increasingly doubtful that he’ll be at the event in any capacity, leaving Elias to - potentially - perform on his own.

The report did add that the plan for the segment was for Elias to prepare his performance as usual, but he would have been interrupted by some legends, such as Jeff Jarrett, Michael Hayes and the Honky Tonk Man.

The Rock would have then been sent out to sing the final song and conclude the segment with Elias, most likely resulting in a beat down. However, now that they can’t secure The Rock for April 8, Vince has reportedly cancelled the whole segment due to a lack of star power, while an idea to have Shawn Michaels as a possible replacement has also been scrapped.

Elias has been speculated to team up with Braun Strowman in his RAW tag team championship match against The Bar, and hopefully, WWE decides to use Elias in some capacity rather than keeping him off the card entirely.
