The return of Tyson Fury to heavyweight boxing is just weeks away.

Despite more than two years out of the sport, the lineal champion has shed the pounds, settled his disagreements with UKAD and is continuing to tease fans with a return date. Just when the division was hotting up anyway, Fury is ready to add an extra dimension to proceedings.

Nevertheless, before the 29-year-old can start challenging for belts once again, he'll need a handful of warm-up fights to dust away the cobwebs.

According to Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, Fury has some very easy opponents in mind with the Englishman refusing to produce such fights.

Moreover, a recent interview with former lineal champion Shannon Briggs all but confirmed that Fury was eyeing an incredibly simple fight in June for his return.

Briggs confirmed Fury talks in recent interview

After that, however, it seems he has Briggs himself in his crosshair with the two ex-champions having talked up the fight on social media since November.

When the interview took place last week, Briggs sought to prove his claims by opening his Twitter direct messages to Fury and even flashed his phone to the cameras.

While the main interviewer wasn't able to get a clear shot of the messages, a new angle has emerged and it shows the conversation in all its glory. Take a look at the transcript below:

Fury: "Hi champ, hope your well, looking to get u your fight with me, how much u want to do a deal? Tyson Fury Fury. It would be the best build-up in the division today. #letsgochamp!"

Briggs: "#LETSGOCHAMP! I agree. I'm on a plan from Texas headed to California. Let's talk. I agree it'll be insane."

Fury: "Ok cool. Hit me up when you're ready."

So it's fair to say both Fury and Briggs have started negotiations for a fight.

It appears a very logical bout for the 'Gypsy King', too, with Briggs proving a very big name in heavyweight boxing while still posing a comfortable challenge at age 46.

Furthermore, as the two fighters mention in their texts, the build-up to the fight and the press conferences would be pure entertainment.

Let's hope Briggs eventually hits him up!
