Chris Sedgwick has revealed his move from Preston to Sheffield Wednesday on a two-year deal was the realisation of a boyhood dream.

The 30-year-old, who worked under Owls boss Alan Irvine at Deepdale, is out of contract with the Lancashire club and will officially join Wednesday on July 1.

Sedgwick has started over 400 games in a career that has also taken in Rotherham, and is delighted to have sealed a move to his hometown club.

"It's great to be here. I've wanted to play for Sheffield Wednesday for such a long time so to get this sorted is a great feeling," said Sedgwick.

He added: "I've supported Wednesday all my life, my family are all Wednesdayites too so to get this opportunity is fantastic."
