Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make moves for Palermo striker Edison Cavani, according to his club’s president.

Both clubs have been linked with the Uruguayan international recently after they confirmed they are looking to boost their attacking options.

Spurs just have Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe as their strike force while City have doubts over the futures of Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini told Rete Rete 24: “I can see Cavani as doing really well in England. His physical characteristics suit the Premier League.

“Both Manchester City and Tottenham are on him,” he added.

Cavani is currently with the Uruguayan World Cup squad preparing for their opening game in South Africa against France.
