Chelsea target Marek Hamsik has confirmed he will sign a contract extension with Napoli, dashing the Blues’ chances of signing him.
The Slovakian ace has been linked with a host of top sides but has shown his loyalty to the Italian side, saying he hopes the deal happens.
He is currently gearing up for the World Cup in South Africa where he will take on Italy in the group stages.
Hamsik told Il Corriere dello Sport: “Both myself and the club have the intention to renew my contract.
“The intention is to continue on this road so we can continue to be protagonists. I am ready for this World Cup, and my future is at Napoli.
“I want to train well for the tournament now so I am ready to face this adventure," he added.
Chelsea would have been likely to revive their interest in Hamsik after releasing midfielders Joe Cole and Michael Ballack but will have to re-think their transfer targets now.
