West Brom have rejected an offer from Sevilla for Borja Valero.
The Spanish club on Thursday tabled an undisclosed bid for the 25-year-old midfielder which was swiftly rebuffed. Having failed to settle during Albion`s fateful Barclays Premier League campaign of 2008/09, Valero enjoyed a hugely successful season-long loan spell at Sevilla's La Liga rivals Real Mallorca last term.
The Spaniard has now returned to The Hawthorns and could well play a part in the Baggies` forthcoming campaign back in the top flight. Sporting & technical director Dan Ashworth said: "There have been lots of rumours in the media over the past few weeks about Sevilla being interested in Borja but the bid they tabled was the first we have received from them. It was rejected out of hand as it was nowhere near what we would regard as an acceptable offer."
He added: "Borja enjoyed an outstanding season in Spain and we have just been promoted to the top flight. If we do not receive a satisfactory offer for Borja, we are more than happy for him to rejoin us for pre-season training in three weeks' time and be a part of our Barclays Premier League squad."
