Arsenal are being linked with a summer move for Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.
The centre back joined the Dutch giants as a youngster after stints with VK Tielrode and Germinal Beerschot, and now Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing Vertonghen to the Premier League.
The Gunners have previous dealings with the Godenzonen, signing Thomas Vermaelen from the club last summer. He has gone on to become a revelation at the Emirates, enjoying a wonderful first season.
23-year-old Vertonghen used to play alongside Vermaelen at the Amsterdam Arena, and Frenchman Wenger is hoping to reunite the pair in a bid to shore up his troublesome defence.
William Gallas, Sol Campbell, and Mikael Silvestre are all yet to agree new deals at the Emirates, with the fear being that the three leave this summer and leave the north London club in serious trouble.
Dutch international Gregory van der Wiel is also thought to be a target, and the Ajax full back could be part of a bigger deal involving both players.
A Belgian international with 21 caps to his name, Vertonghen isn't short of experience and could prove to be an important acquisition ahead of the next campaign.
