Arsenal are reportedly ready to step-up their chase for German international Mesut Ozil.
The Werder Bremen attacking midfielder made a sensational start to the World Cup with a wonderful individual display against Australia, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is now wanting to open talks over a possible summer move.
21-year-old Ozil was valued at £12 million by the Gunners before the tournament in South Africa began, but that may now fall short of the Bundesliga side's valuation after one fine display.
The former Schalke midfielder made his debut as a teenager, and after two successful seasons with the club moved to Bremen for a reported €4.3 million fee in January 2008.
His time at the Weserstadion has been a success, helping Werder to a second place finish in his first season and a third place finish in the last campaign.
He was also called up to the national side for the first time in 2009, taking his chance to become a regular in Joachim Löw's side.
The north Londoners were being linked with a move for Ozil before the World Cup began, and now the Daily Star reports that Frenchman Wenger is preparing to swoop for the highly-rated youngster.
