A four-minute wait before taking an injury-time penalty to decide a Champions League quarter-final.

There’s a lot of players that would have bottled such a nervy experience.

But not Cristiano Ronaldo.

He appeared to relish the pressure and certainly relished whipping off his shirt after smashing the ball past Wojciech Szczęsny.

It’s a celebration we’ve seen from Cristiano on numerous occasions in the Champions League over the years.

Back in the final in 2014, his 120th-minute penalty sealed a 4-1 extra-time victory against Atletico Madrid in Lisbon.

And off came the shirt.

HOW DOES CRISTIANO MAINTAIN HIS PHYSIQUE?

Two years later against the same opposition, Ronaldo’s abs were on show once again after he scored the winning penalty after a 1-1 draw in the San Siro.

To be fair, if we had a body like Ronaldo’s we wouldn’t own any shirts at all.

But at the age of 33, it’s incredible that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner still has that sort of physique.

What’s his secret?

CRISTIANO HAS FOUR SECRETS

Well, the Daily Mail have produced a detailed report about Ronaldo and his fitness. And they claim there are four key secrets to him maintaining his ripped torso.

The first one is “Swimming after every game followed by hot and cold baths and a water jet to repair and massage muscles.”

Reading manager Paul Clement once told how Real Madrid arrived back from a Champions League tie in Turkey at 3am. While every other player drove their flash cars home, Ronaldo went for an ice bath at the training ground.

The second secret is “cryotherapy treatment as low as -200 degrees that regenerates his body.”

Ronaldo got a chamber installed in his house back in 2013 which helps his muscles recover after training and matches.

Ronaldo’s third secret is “regular hydration in training.” The former Manchester United star believes the way he hydrates himself has had a huge impact on his excellent injury record.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Ronaldo's diet is crucial to his appearance. He doesn’t drink alcohol and includes very little fat and sugar in his diet.

The Daily Mail write: “All his food is prepared according to a low-fat, low-sugar diet. Ronaldo drinks no alcohol but allows himself his favourite Portuguese grilled cod from time to time.

“When he eats is as important as what he eats. Like all players, he is encouraged to pack in the calories immediately after matches.

The difference is that after a dressing-room refuelling snack, others will go home. Ronaldo goes for a swim.”

So, there you have it.

If you want a ridiculous body like Cristiano, just followed these four simple secrets.

Not quite sure where you can get a cryotherapy chamber from, though…
