Barring any dramatic developments between now and August, Jose Mourinho will still be in charge of Manchester United next season.

The Portuguese coach will enter his third campaign - uh-oh - as the Red Devils’ boss under pressure to deliver his current employers their first Premier League title since 2013.

Mourinho’s side have been made to look distantly average over the course of the season by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who were crowned Premier League champions with five matches remaining on Sunday after United slumped to an embarrassing 1-0 home defeat against lowly West Brom.

United remain second in the league table for the time being, 16 points behind City, and can salvage something from the season by winning the FA Cup.

They face Tottenham in the semi-finals of that competition at Wembley this weekend. The winners of that match will take on either Chelsea or Southampton in next month’s final.

But Mourinho is acutely aware that changes need to be made this summer in order to close the gap on City, whose squad is likely to be strengthened again before the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

And according to the Daily Mail, the 55-year-old has already decided four players who he wants to get rid of.

The two huge names on Mourinho's list

The list is bound to surprise many people, with Paul Pogba reportedly the highest-profile casualty.

The Mail understand that Mourinho is ready to let the French midfielder leave Old Trafford, just under two years after his surprise return to United in a record-breaking £89.3 million move from Juventus.

The vast majority of United fans remain desperate for Pogba succeed at their club and will be disturbed by reports that Mourinho now plans to sell him.

Similarly, they’ll also be deeply concerned by the Mail’s claim that Mourinho also plans to offload Anthony Martial. The 22-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 41 matches this term, is also on Mourinho’s axe-list after failing to convince the Portuguese tactician.

The other two players Mourinho wants to axe

But in far less surprising news, Mourinho is also determined to sell both Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind.

It’s hard to imagine too many United fans shedding tears over the departure of those two.

But Pogba and Martial? This won’t go down well with the club’s supporters.

You sense that some of them would even prefer that Mourinho left their club before the French duo.
