Bulls appoint Davey

Simon Davey has been unveiled as Hereford's new manager, just six days after his shock resignation at Darlington.

The 39-year-old last week confirmed his intention to quit the Quakers, who were last season relegated from the Football League, after just 11 weeks at the helm. Darlington chairman Raj Singh said: "He (Davey) has very briefly cited personal reasons."

But the former Barnsley boss has penned a two-year deal to take over at Edgar Street, succeeding caretaker manager and chairman Graham Turner after he ended his 15-year association with the club by selling his shareholding and completing a switch to Shrewsbury earlier this month.

And Davey told the club's official website: "I'm hugely impressed by their enthusiasm and passion for the club and I think the next few seasons are going to be very exciting at Edgar Street.

"It's a fresh start - a chance for a new beginning and from what I know the fans are amongst the most loyal around and hopefully they`ll come out in their thousands to cheer us on."

New chief David Keyte made the long-awaited appointment along with fellow new vice-chairman Tim Russon after extending their deadline due to a surge in applications.
