Sky Blues snap up Carlisle defender

Coventry have signed former Republic of Ireland Under-21 captain Richard Keogh on a three-year contract.

The 23-year-old recently rejected a new deal with Carlisle, insisting he wanted to play at a higher level, and City have paid an undisclosed compensation fee for his services due to his age. Keogh will join the Sky Blues on July 1 after completing a medical and becomes manager Aidy Boothroyd's fourth signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Gary McSheffrey, Roy O'Donovan and Stephen O'Halloran .

Boothroyd said: "Richard is another hungry player who comes here looking to prove himself and that's exactly the type of character we want. He's already got 170 career appearances under his belt, which is a decent level of experience for a young player, and I'm very much looking forward to working with him."

He added: "We are pleased with our progress in the transfer market so far this summer and we are looking to make more additions to the squad in the near future."
