Bournemouth midfielder Shaun Cooper has signed a new one-year deal with the Cherries.

The 26-year-old missed most of last season after undergoing surgery on his hip, but returned to make six appearances at the end of the season as Eddie Howe's side clinched automatic promotion. Cooper told the Bournemouth Echo: "I'm just looking forward to pre-season and starting with a clean slate. It's not going to be easy winning a place in the team, but I'm relishing the challenge.

"I played a handful of games last season and was conscious of not being the weak link. I didn't want to be responsible for doing something which may have cost us getting over the line."
