The Toronto Raptors secured a huge game five win over the Washington Wizards on their home floor to take a 3-2 series lead in their first-round playoff matchup.

The Raps once again kept home-court advantage with a hard-fought 108-98 win against a resilient Wizards team who stayed in the contest until late in the fourth quarter.

Washington held a five-point lead with just under nine minutes to play in the final frame but they relinquished this and ultimately fell to a third consecutive defeat at the Air Canada Centre in this series.

Despite their inability to close the game out and get a road win, John Wall is hugely confident that they can force a game seven back in Toronto by protecting their home court in the next outing.

"We love our chances," Wall said when asked how he likes the Wizards' odds of winning game 6 at home, per ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "We're very confident."

The point guard has every reason to be based on their recent record in the nation's capital.

The Wizards have won eight straight playoff games at home, including games three and four against the Raptors last week which saw them overcome a 2-0 deficit.

Just like the opening two games, the Raptors did a great job of nullifying Wall and his backcourt partner Bradley Beal in the fourth quarter.

Up until that point, the duo were going toe-to-toe with Toronto's guard combo of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry and giving them a tough time on the offensive end.

But Wall and Beal missed eight of their combined nine shots in the final nine minutes and were limited to just three shots in the last three minutes.

"We felt like we let one slip away," said Wall, who finished with 26 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and seven turnovers.

"But at the same time, we played aggressive, we just didn't make shots. They made the bigger shots at the end of the game. Other than two or three turnovers, we got all the looks we wanted in the fourth quarter.

"Look at the percentages -- to shoot 41 percent and then be 5-for-26 from three and have a chance to win it on the road ... you couldn't ask for anything more."

For a team on the brink of elimination, the mood in the Wizards camp remains positive.

"We've been down 2-0 before, so I don't think being down 3-2 when we are going home is anything psychologically draining," Kelly Oubre Jr. said after the game. "Y'all have seen how we play when our backs are against the wall."

This topsy-turvy series will now return to Washington for a huge game six on Friday night.
