Scally: We won't block Jackson exit

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally is refusing to rule out the possibility of Simeon Jackson leaving the club ahead of the new npower League Two campaign - despite his desire to keep him.

Championship duo Millwall and Norwich are interested in signing the striker, who has returned to training with the rest of the squad, but Scally will not do any business until a credible offer comes in.

Scally told the Kent Messenger: "He is worth money but it's a question of what he is worth and we have had no credible offers so far. He's a great lad and we would wish him well if he did ever leave."

Scally added: "It's a bit of a balancing act and that is where the skill of the board comes in. We have never stood in someone's way who wants to move on and clearly he wants to play at a higher level, as will most of the team, and clearly he knows there is interest from some clubs. We just have to wait and see how the weeks progress."

Elsewhere, the club are hoping to lure former loanee Darren Dennehy back to Priestfield after the defender negotiated a release from Cardiff.

Scally added: "We have put a proposition to Darren and he is considering it. It was difficult for him to remove himself from Cardiff but he has now done that and we are in discussions with him."
