Ferguson: Lonergan not for sale

Preston manager Darren Ferguson has reassured supporters that goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is not for sale.

Lonergan has been linked with a move away from Deepdale this summer but Ferguson is adamant that the club will keep hold of their prize asset.

"Andy won`t be going anywhere, it is as simple as that, the North End boss told his club's official website.

"He is the sort of player you want to build your team around rather than lose.

"There will be speculation as there are rumours that we are struggling financially but we can`t sell Andy Lonergan.

"We cannot afford to as we can`t replace him. For me he is the best goalkeeper in the Championship, and he is very happy here."
