Hunt returns for Royals

Reading manager Brian McDermott believes striker Noel Hunt will benefit after scoring the winner in Saturday's friendly at Farnborough.

Hunt was given 30 minutes of action on his return from a lengthy lay-off with a knee injury and scored a poacher's effort to give the Royals victory.

McDermott said: "Most of the lads got 45 minutes and it was a really good exercise for us. I was delighted for Noel that he scored. I spoke to him on the coach on the way to the game and told him to get back amongst it. He did that, got himself a goal and psychologically that was fantastic for him."
