Notts County swoop for Harley

Notts County boss Craig Short is in talks with former Watford defender Jon Harley over a potential move to Meadow Lane.

Harley was released by the Hornets last month after two seasons at Vicarage Road and could soon find himself in League One with the Magpies.

Short told the Nottingham Evening Post: "I first spoke to Jon a few weeks ago and we're still in talks with him at the moment. We're hoping to get him and he would be another good signing for us because of his experience."

He added: "He is a natural left-footer, capable of playing at full-back or on the left side of midfield.

"Watford want to keep him but can't afford to, so he's looking for a new club. I can't believe he hasn't already got one."
