Stanley chairman set to step down

Published Add your comment

Accrington chairman Ilyas Khan is set to officially confirm his resignation next month.

Khan, who became chairman last November, helped to save the cash-strapped League Two club from a winding-up order.

A deal was agreed to allow Dave O'Neill to resume as chairman this summer, paving the way for Khan to leave, but his resignation must still be legally ratified at the club's next board meeting.

Khan told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I have stepped down. The only reason it has not been officially announced is that there has not been a board meeting since then."

He added: "I am currently on holiday and will be back in the middle of August.

"I paid for the pitch but I have not been involved in any of the dealings at Stanley since then."
