Colchester have offered contracts to trialists Ben Coker and Lloyd James.

The duo have impressed in pre-season, helping the Us to three consecutive victories, and manager John Ward is keen for both players to remain at the club.

Ward told the club's official website: "We have made offers to those two.

"I informed them on Friday as promised and they are mulling over their offers and we will see what they say."

Coker currently plays for Southern League side Bury Town, while James is unattached after being released by Southampton.

Colchester will not be pursuing their interest in striker James Walker, who ended last season at Gillingham.
