Sunderland starlet's injury progressing well

Published Add your comment

Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn has returned to training less than a week after suffering a knee injury.

The 20-year-old had to be helped from the pitch at Thomond Park in Limerick last Tuesday evening after being hurt following his match-winning double in a 2-1 friendly victory over a Munster XI.

Manager Steve Bruce was keeping everything crossed as Waghorn, who impressed during a loan spell at Leicester last season, underwent tests.

However, he flew out to Portugal for the club's Algarve training camp on Monday and was able to join in with his team-mates in Tuesday morning's session.
