Sami Khedira looks set to snub Arsenal in favour of a move to Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old’s star has risen rapidly since his performances for Germany during the World Cup, and Skysports.com reports that he is high on the list of Jose Mourinho’s transfer targets.
Arsenal had reportedly been interested in purchasing the Stuttgart midfielder, but he has revealed his intention to move to the Bernabeu after a Real enquiry was confirmed by Die Roten.
"I am mulling over the thought of making a move to Real Madrid," Khedira told German newspaper Bild.
"The club has confirmed that they are interested.
"Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in the whole world and Jose Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in the game.
"The type of teams that play under Mourinho is the style I am after. Tactically perfect, with speed and the nose for goals and tight at the back. This is the only way to achieve success these days.
"I can also say I would not have allowed any other club than Real Madrid to get in touch with me over a transfer at this point in time.
"Still everything remains undecided. I am going to make a decision in the next couple of days, at least next week. This is what I owe to Stuttgart.”
Despite the Gunners seemingly destined to lose out on Khedira, Arsene Wenger will no doubt be buoyed by reports that veteran defender Sol Campbell intends to sign a new deal to keep him at the Emirates for another season.
