Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Senegalese midfielder Kara Mbodj, who currently plays in Norway for Tromso.

The 6 foot 3 inch powerhouse has reportedly been scouted by the Gunners' Scandinavian based official and now head scout Steve Rowley will check him out.

Mbodj has impressed for Tromso since he joined from the Diambars Academy in his homeland last February.

The academy was set up by former Gunner Patrick Vieira and Arsenal have kept close links ever since - with Mbodj the first player they spotted.

The Gunners will watch him more and more but are unlikely to sign him in the immediate future as he is currently injured but he is certainly one for the future.
