Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner has boosted his options in central midfield with the signing of Sean McAllister on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old was released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season, where he had made over 70 first-team appearances having progressed through their youth ranks.

Turner told Town's official website: "I'm delighted to have been able to bring an exciting player such as Sean McAllister to the club."

He added: "We have been in discussions and once again I feel I've bought in a player who has joined the club for all the right reasons.

"Sean has completed his medical and finished the paperwork and I now look forward to working with him as a Shrewsbury Town player."
