Oldham have signed striker Dean Kelly on an initial six-month contract.

The 24-year-old Irishman has been on trial with the Latics during pre-season and impressed boss Paul Dickov enough to earn a deal.

Dickov said: "What stood out from day one was Dean's natural ability for someone who plays amateur football in Ireland and who only trains a couple of times a week."

He added: "He is a natural goalscorer who holds up the ball well.

"He still has a lot of work to do but we believe he has a good chance of making it."
