Liverpool are being linked with a shock move for Australian keeper Brad Jones.
The 28-year-old stopper, who has two caps for the Socceroos, has reportedly been lined-up by new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson as cover for Spaniard Pepe Reina.
Jones began his senior career at Middlesbrough after moving to the Riverside as a junior from Bayswater City, but took loan spells with Shelbourne, Stockport County and Blackpool to gain first team experience in English football.
International colleague Schwarzer's move to Fulham provided Jones with first team chances on Teeside, and the stopper has been No.1 for the club for a couple of seasons after recovering from an injury at the start of the 2008-09 campaign.
Gordon Strachan is thought to be keen to keep Jones at the club, but the Daily Mirror reports that Hodgson has already made an official inquiry for the Aussie.
The national paper also reports that the goalkeeper is keen on a move to Anfield, and prepared to challenge Diego Cavalieri for a place on the bench in Merseyside.
