After a disappointing week in the transfer market, Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has re-affirmed his interest in Liverpool’s enigmatic winger Ryan Babel.

After missing out on Belgian winger Moussa Dembele, McLeish is hoping it will be second time lucky when it come’s to a potential deal for the former Ajax forward.

The 23 year-old was close to a move in January after Liverpool accepted a £10 million pound bid, and it seems that the deal could be back on as McLeish looks to bolster his squad for the new season.

With Babel not expected to figure in Red’s boss Roy Hodgson plans after limited involvement in pre-season, it looks as though the Dutch forward could be ready to move in order play first team football.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will accept a bid the second time around, but with new signings Milan Jovanovic and Joe Cole able to play out wide it look’s a distinct possibility as the Merseyside outfit look to free up some much needed funds.
