Crystal Palace boss George Burley has warned a deal to sign Dutch legend Edgar Davids is a long way away.
The former Holland midfielder, 37, has been linked with a move to Selhurst Park on a pay-as-you-play deal some two years after his last competitive match.
"There is nothing definite about Davids," Burley told the Standard. "This is to do with a friend of a mate who knows Edgar and it was mentioned that he might like to start playing again."
He added: "Edgar has a home in London and he's talking about starting to play again. But it hasn't gone much further than that.
"There is a long way between wanting to play again after two years of retirement and getting involved in a tough league like the Championship."
