Hartlepool have confirmed that Russ Green has resigned from his position as chief executive.

Green's departure follows that of Chris Turner, who stepped down as the club's director of sport on Thursday.

Green joined Pools in 2002 as the club's commercial manager before being promoted to chief executive in January 2005.

Chairman Ken Hodcroft told the club's official website: "During his time as commercial manager, Russ quickly set about enhancing the club's links with local businesses and sealing many new and fruitful sponsorship deals."

He added: "The esteem with which he became held in the football club and the town made it an easy decision to promote him to chief executive.

And in the last five years he has continued to drive new income streams to the club, as well as further cement Pools' reputation in the local community and in the wider world of football.

"Russ always enjoyed a special relationship with the club's supporters and it's with regret that the club have accepted his resignation.

The club's owners IOR, myself and everyone at Hartlepool United would like to place on record their sincere thanks for the work Russ has done to develop the football club and wish him all the very best for the future."
