Ipswich manager Roy Keane has confirmed striker Jon Stead is close to completing a move to Championship rivals Bristol City.

Stead has started the last three games for Town but has been allowed to leave so Keane can bring a new striker to the club.

Keane told the club's official website: "I think Steady will sign for Bristol City on Monday."

He added: "The clubs have agreed a fee and he has agreed personal terms.

"He goes with our best wishes as well. He has done well for us over the last few weeks and shown a good side to him.

"I would have liked to have kept him but with Steady going out we hope to have a replacement at the club later on Monday. We are almost there and hopefully it will all be finalised."
