The rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus keep intensifying.

There had been a lot of speculation on the 33-year-old's future throughout season, but no one expected this.

Real Madrid's hierarchy appear to be aware of his desire to leave and are looking for a fee between €100-150m.

Ronaldo does have a €1bn release clause but if he really is desperate to leave, Los Blancos might as well get a decent pay day while they can.

In theory, they'd make a significant profit on the €88m they paid Manchester United back in 2009.

However, there's been a lack of noise from both Ronaldo himself and those attached to the club.

His agent Jorge Mendes delivered a cryptic statement to the media, saying: "If that happens it’ll be a new chapter and a new challenge in his brilliant career.

"If Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid, he’ll be eternally grateful to the club, the president, everyone who works there; the medical staff, every one of the players without any exceptions, the fans and all the Madridistas found across the world."

Not exactly clarifying much and it seems only a matter of time before an official statement arrives from either Ronaldo or Real Madrid.

In the meantime, Ronaldo's teammate Luka Modric has finally broken the squad silence and delivered his verdict on the situation.

"Let's see what happens," Croatia's captain said after beating Russia on penalties. "I don't think he's going to leave, and I'd like him to stay because he's the best player in the world.

"I think he's going to stay; that's my opinion. I can't imagine him at any other club."

Wonder if Gareth Bale feels the same as Modric?

Given Ronaldo's long record of potentially leaving Real Madrid, no one would be too shocked if he did make a U-turn this summer.
