A late goal from Danny Spiller earned Gillingham a deserved point at Morecambe's Globe Arena.

Midfielder Spiller netted with a late header after a vicious Chris Palmer free-kick, to cancel out Craig Stanley's goal for the home side.

Stanley netted a minute before the clock passed the hour mark, Gillingham's defence unable to stop him from ghosting in to nod home Mark Duffy's cross from the left.

Spiller made sure that Andy Hessenthaler's men did not leave with nothing, though, nodding in with six minutes remaining.

Spiller, in his second spell with the Gills, then had a glorious chance to win the game in injury time, but he could only volley over the top of Barry Roche's goal after he caught Morecambe's defence napping with a sharp run.
