Arsenal are set to turn the tables on Barcelona by nicking young attacking midfielder Oriol Romeu from the Catalan club, according to reports in Spain.

The Gunners did the same with the next big Barca prospect, Cesc Fabregas, back in 2003 and the Spaniard is now their captain.

Barca were keen on bringing Fabregas back to Camp Nou this summer but Arsene Wenger rejected their offers point blank.

After a frosty couple of months between the two clubs, they managed to get back on good terms recently but the North London side are willing to risk this by chasing Romeu.

The 18-year-old impressed for Barcelona B last term and was in line for a promotion to the senior side to provide back up to Sergio Busquets before Javier Mascherano joined the club.

So far, Barca have not entered into talks regarding a new contract and Wenger is following the situation if no deal materializes.
