QPR striker move on hold

Published Add your comment

QPR's move for Portsmouth forward Tommy Smith is on hold after the Football League rejected the deadline day transfer.

Former Watford man Smith signed a three-year deal with the Hoops on transfer deadline day after the clubs agreed a fee in the region of £1.5million. The 30-year-old passed a medical at Loftus Road but is now in limbo.

A QPR statement said: "The two clubs are now working to bring the player to Loftus Road on a loan basis ahead of Saturday's home match against Middlesbrough before a permanent transfer is completed in January."

Portsmouth's deadline day deals were further complicated when Liam Lawrence's move from Stoke was also rejected by the league.
