Kris Commons is expected to be fit when Derby resume their Championship campaign at home to Sheffield United.

Alarm bells started to ring when a tight hamstring forced the Scotland international forward off a minute before half-time in the draw against QPR a fortnight ago.

Commons was plagued by hamstring trouble for much of last season but he returned to training this week.

With Rob Hulse and Luke Varney having departed during the transfer window and Chris Porter still a doubt with a hip problem, Alberto Bueno is likely to be involved.

The Spanish forward is on a season-long loan from Real Valladolid and got his first taste of English football with a run-out for the reserves on Wednesday evening.

Russell Anderson could be included on the bench. The experienced defender has been sidelined since suffering a groin strain in the victory over Leeds on the opening day of the season.

Sheffield United skipper Chris Morgan is expected to return to the starting line-up.

Morgan sat out the 1-0 win over Preston due to a calf strain and either Kyle Bartley or Nyron Nosworthy will make way.

Recent French signing Jean Calve scored a stunning winner on his debut against North End and will be fit despite leaving the field with cramp.

Blades manager Gary Speed will be without long-term absentees Darius Henderson (hamstring), Lee Williamson (back) and Ryan France (knee).

Speed will be taking charge of his third game following the departure of Kevin Blackwell last month as the Blades chase only their second league win of the season.
