Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has denied claims by Marseille that the French club made a bid for Didier Drogba.

The Stade Velodrome side were thought to be keen to bring Drogba back to the club where he made his name, and club president Jean-Claude Dassier announced yesterday (Thursday) that OM had made a bid which was rejected by the Blues.

Chelsea paid £24 million for Drogba back in 2004, but OM were keen to bring the 32-year-old forward back to his old Ligue 1 stomping ground.

Ancelotti has flatly denied the claims in a press conference ahead of the Blues' clash at West Ham this weekend however, stating that the comments are pure fabrication.

"This is not true," said Ancelotti.

"They did not make an offer. They didn't ask the club if they could buy Drogba. If they come to us in January, they already know the answer."

The Stamford Bridge outfit have no desire to sell last season's Premier League golden boot winner, who played an integral part in the club winning the title last season. He is also seen as key in the club's quest for Champions League glory this season.
