What a golden opportunity then for the City to put daylight between the club and the others.
The game at Leicester is going to be especially important. No doubt Dave Jones will be stressing the dangers that come with a successful run of victories – that dreaded word ‘over-confidence’.
And yet if the Bluebirds are to make the step up to be a really successful team, this hurdle must be faced and overcome.
The best teams are able to surmount it; lesser teams succumb to it and fall.
The fact that though one can even write of the dangers of overconfidence and link it with the Bluebirds speaks volumes about the team’s performances and results so far this season.
And so the coming weeks will show us whether the Bluebirds can now make that step up to a higher level - the level where they can consistently churn out result after result. This is where they have failed in the past.
Good runs there have been, but rarely has the team been able to maintain a consistency.
To say we have fascinating prospect ahead is somewhat of an understatement.
