Chelsea have confirmed that midfield dynamo Frank Lampard is unavailable for the clash against Blackpool.
The England international has still not recovered from a hernia operation, and the club revealed on their official website that he won't be fit for the Stamford Bridge showdown despite earlier press speculation to the contrary.
Chelsea will hope to have the former West Ham United midfielder fit for the Carling Cup clash against Newcastle next week, seeing the fixture as an opportunity to get the player back to full fitness.
Carlo Ancelotti previously hinted that the midfielder would play for the Premier League leaders at the weekend, saying on Thursday: "Lampard trained in Cobham, I think he will be able to play on Sunday."
However, further work is required on the groin and he's out of Chelsea's provisional squad.
Ivorian striker Drogba is back following a Champions League suspension in midweek though, and is set to lead the line against the Tangerines in the early kick-off on Sunday.
Ashley Cole, rested in the midweek win over MSK Zilina, is also back in contention and likely to start for Chelsea as they look to cement their domination in the league.
