Van den Broek suffers ankle break

Published Add your comment

Shrewsbury midfielder Benjamin van den Broek is facing up to a lengthy spell on the sidelines having fractured his ankle.

The Dutchman, who has made substitute appearances in each of Town's League Two games this season, sustained the injury while playing for the reserves in Wednesday night's 3-2 defeat to Preston at the Greenhous Meadow.

X-rays on Thursday morning confirmed the fracture, and Van den Broek is now looking at six to eight weeks on the sidelines, although he will see a specialist on Friday to ascertain whether quicker progress can be made.
