Arsenal eye up trio as Wenger is handed £50 million warchest

Arsene Wenger is busy readying targets for the January transfer window and will have £50 million to spend on his playing squad, according to the Daily Mail.

And Palermo striker Abel Hernandez, Everton’s Mikel Arteta and Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci will top the Frenchman’s list of targets.

Wenger has not spent a fortune recently and has been the subject of criticism from a minority for not splashing out more in order to win the Premier League title once again.

Another low spending summer saw the Gunners bring in Marouane Chamakh, Sebastien Squillaci and Laurent Koscielny for an estimated £10 million.

Arsenal are expected to announce a turnover of £220 million, reducing their debt and confirming them as the best run club in the Premier League.

Their special transfer proceeds account, into which they put 70 per cent of money made on outgoing transfers, has now reached £50 million and Wenger will be put under pressure to bring in players to regain them the title and also progress to a Wembley Champions League final.

And with ongoing concerns over skipper Cesc Fabregas’ future at the club, that amount could be boosted if he gets his ultimate way and joins Barcelona for a big fee.
